Are you looking to unlock your potential as an educator? Look no further than the East Orange Education Association (EOEA) led by the dynamic Dr. Dawn Nichol-Manning.

Since assuming the role of president in 2019, Dr. Dawn Nichol-Manning has been dedicated to providing valuable benefits to EOEA members. From discounts on travel, car purchases, and home appliances to professional development opportunities and legal services, the association offers a wide range of perks to its members. But EOEA is more than just discounts and services; it is a community that strives to empower its members. Dr. Dawn Nichol-Manning's vision for EOEA goes beyond traditional union functions. She aims to foster member engagement, promote self-advocacy, and bring awareness to important political and social issues within the education sector. One of the key initiatives to achieve these goals is the association's website. With a focus on increasing member participation in events and actions, the website will soon feature an interactive event calendar and inspiring member success stories. These features aim to captivate members and encourage them to take an active role in shaping the future of education. Joining the conversation with EOEA means more than just being a member - it means being part of a movement to unlock your full potential as an educator. By engaging with the resources and community provided by EOEA, you can take your career to new heights and make a positive impact in the education sector. So, are you ready to unlock your potential? Join the conversation with EOEA and Dr. Dawn Nichol-Manning today.

My Work, Dedication, and Future Outlook

Reasons You Should Vote for Me

I have dedicated over two decades to serving the East Orange Education Association in various roles, including as the current President, Vice President, Secretary, Grievance Negotiations Chair, Association Representative, and NEA-RA Delegate. As President, I have spearheaded initiatives to empower members, such as establishing member scholarships for NJEA conference participation and implementing digital voting for streamlined decision-making and inclusivity in elections.

I am thrilled to say that I have successfully negotiated the past two contracts and am presently fighting to settle our new contract negotiations.  I have been awarded for my work as a union labor leader in 2023 by the Essex County Democratic Committee for the work I have done to keep our Association intact and moving forward.

I have established communication channels and strengthened relationships with key stakeholders, including the school board, superintendent, senior cabinet, mayor, and city officials, to foster transparent dialogue and collaboration. My unwavering dedication to leading the association, particularly during the pandemic, is truly commendable.

I have also played a significant role in spearheading and moving the Labor Management Collaboration to become a staple necessity in the district.  My desire for the future of EOEA is to encourage members to become more proactive with their Association, provide more workshops and trainings that will assist with powerful self-advocacy, working with legislatures to move law that put a conducive timeframe to the process of settling contracts, and push that educators have more of a voice in the overall planning and decision-making processes within the district.

I hope that on May 15, 2024, you select me to continue the work in leading the EOEA as president.  I promise to work hard for and with you!
